Who's ready to hit the trails? Construction will begin early February on Phase 3A of the Walnut Creek Linear Trail, which will extend the existing trail from James McKnight Park East around the exterior of the Shops at Broad development and down Carlin Rd. to join the existing sidewalks at the intersection of Cannon and Carlin Roads. The approximately one-mile paved trail will be 12-ft wide and is expected to be complete by late summer 2021.

Trails were listed as one of the highest priorities in our 2020 Parks and Recreation Master Plan and we are thrilled to add this new stretch to our inventory for residents to begin using very soon! Once complete, we'll have a solid connection for walkers and runners to travel from Town Park near Historic Downtown Mansfield to the 360 Tollway, when including sidewalks and the crushed granite trails of Elmer W. Oliver Nature Park.

Additional sections to widen the sidewalks and add paved routes around Oliver Nature Park will be completed in future phases, as will extensions to city limits on each end. No timeline is set as of yet for those phases but check back for future updates or read more about the trail on the website.
