TRAPS Gold Medal

In 2017 Mansfield was award the Texas Recreation and Park Society's Gold Medal Award, the highest honor given to a city's park system. It honors excellence in long-range planning, resource management, volunteerism, environmental stewardship, program development, professional development and agency recognition. The application is a long, multistep process heavily evaluated by state officials and peers. Each city is only eligible once every three years and is rarely awarded multiple times without significant improvement and development. This was the third time Mansfield won such an honor, with previous Gold Medals in 1998 and 2009.

2021

Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers

Mansfield Parks and Recreation was honored to be recognized by our peers with five major awards this week at the 2021 Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers’ annual conference, which had over 4000 entries from across the state. Our awards included:
Best Use of Social Media: Finding Olivia (first place)
Best Recurring Special Event: Veterans Parade and Salute (first place)
Best Public Service Announcement Video: Mans Best Zoom Call (first place)
Best Internal Communications: Park Tank (second place)
Best One-Time Special Event: Senior Photo Pop Up (third place)

City and County Communications and Marketing Association

3CMA is a national organization with thousands of member cities and counties across the country. Mansfield was honored to win a number of awards this year, including:
Best Use of Social Media: Bluebonnet Photos (first place)
Best Recurring Special Event: Veterans Day Parade and Salute (second place)
Best Branding & Design: Mans Best Field Dog Park logo/brand (second place)

2019

TAMIO: Best Recurring Special Event

The Barks & Rec 5k, which pairs runners with dogs from four area shelters, was honored at the Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers conference as the best recurring special event of the year.

2018

Texas Recreation and Park Society: Lone Star Programming

Barks & Rec, which brings dogs from Mansfield Animal Care & Control to running and hiking classes for a combination adoption event and fitness program was recognized as the top recreation program of the year for the state of Texas. 

The program won a similar award at the TRAPS North Region Conference before advancing to state.

Texas Recreation and Park Society: Promotions & Marketing Excellence

Check in with Mansfield Parks, a marketing campaign designed to promote active, outdoor play over electronics and television, was honored with the state award for excellence in communications. The campaign won a similar award at the TRAPS North Region Conference before advancing to state.

Texas Recreation and Park Society: North Region Horizon Award

MAC Athletics Supervisor Greg Guse was honored with the Horizon Award for outstanding service.

Texas Downtown Association: Best Public Improvement

Pond Branch Linear Trail, which added a shaded concrete trail along Pond Branch Creek in Historic Downtown Mansfield was named the best public improvement project for cities over 50k by the Texas Downtown Association.

City & County Communications & Marketing Association

The Barks & Rec 5k, which pairs runners with dogs from four area shelters, received multiple awards at the 2018 3CMA Savvy Awards: Recurring Special Event (first place), Social Media Campaign (first place) and Photography (second place).

Texas Festivals & Events Association

Two Mansfield events were recognized at the 2018 Texas Festivals & Events Association for excellence in a variety of aspects. Music Alley was awarded Best Multimedia Promotion and the Barks & Rec 5k placed first for promotional giveaway.

The Phase II renovations and improvements at Clayton W. Chandler Park that turned seven empty acres into the most diversely programmed park including the city's first skate park and splash pad were recognized with the top honors for excellence in design.

Texas Recreation and Park Society: North Region Horizon Award

MAC Recreation Supervisor Mary Jones was recognized with the Horizon Award for outstanding service.

Texas Recreation and Park Society: North Region Lone Star Programming Award

Oliver Nature Park's Kayaking tours received the region's Lone Star Programming award for excellence in recreation.
