Animal Shelters are high-stress environments for many dogs and getting the opportunity to leave and get some exercise makes a huge difference! Sign up today for our Doggy's Day Out program - once approved, you can "check out" a shelter dog for up to 3 hours.
Stop by the shelter at any time during our open hours to check out our adventure-ready pups. Make sure to bring your ID with you, and fill out our registration form and Doggy's Day Out agreement. After that, take your pup on their greatest adventure - and don't forget to take lots of photos and videos! All dogs are required to be back by 4pm.
Even at the best-run, best-funded shelters, shelter life increases stress, chance of disease, can have major effects on a pet's emotional state and quality of life. Fostering is better for pet, the community, and greatly increases the shelter's space!
Studies show that when pets go into foster care, they get to practice forming bonds with people, which helps them bond with their adoptive family. Learn more about how to foster today and give us a call!

At the Mansfield Animal Shelter, we know hardship can sometimes lead to the heartbreaking decision to surrender a pet. We are committed to keeping more pets and families together, and to help reduce the number of animals that are rehomed due to financial challenges. We operate a Pet Food Pantry at the Mansfield Animal Shelter, located at 407 Industrial Blvd., which is open on a walk-in basis between 9:00am and 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. Dog and cat food is available, and owners can stop in to pick up free pet food that has been donated by our generous volunteers.
