  3. FAQ

Julian Feild Park is the oldest park in Mansfield, built in 1960 and named after one of our city's founding fathers. With that historic significance in mind, the park was selected as the location for a future Veterans Memorial.

The project began with a group of residents who formed a nonprofit organization, Mansfield Veterans Memorial and Tribute Foundation, to raise the funds to build a permanent recognition to the men and women who have served our country. In 2021, the City joined forced with the volunteers to help oversee the project and funding, which will most likely come from a future bond election.

Sept. 2021 Update

Draft concepts were presented for feedback to a full crowd at the public meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 31. Park Planners and designers are now compiling that feedback to make adjustments and prepare a final concept, which will be presented to the public when complete. The next step is for the Veterans Memorial project to be proposed to the City Council-appointed Bond Election Steering Committee. If selected, it will be placed on a May 2022 bond election ballot.

Aug. 2021 Update

Mansfield Parks and Recreation and the Mansfield Veterans Memorial Foundation worked in tandem with the designers to develop concepts for the Veterans Memorial at Julian Feild Park. Those concepts will be presented for feedback at an open public meeting. Residents are invited to view the drawings up close, hear from the architect and staff, and share feedback. Further details were shared in a news update here.
