New Trash and Recycling Services Coming to Mansfield
The City of Mansfield Transitioning to Frontier Waste Solutions Effective October 1, 2023
Welcome to a new Frontier! The City of Mansfield will transition from Republic Services to Frontier Waste Solutions as the city's solid waste provider on Oct. 1. The company will provide the same level of service that Mansfield residents are accustomed to, including twice per week manual curbside trash pickup, and once per week automatic recycling.
Why the change?
A new contract with Frontier Waste Solutions was approved by City Council at the July 10 City Council Meeting, as the current contract with Republic ends this September.
How do I find out if my curbside pickup dates are changing?
Enter your address in the top of the interactive map below to confirm curbside pickup days in your area.
How many households will be affected?
Only 20 percent of households in the city will see any change to their trash and recycling curbside pickup days.
Will I be receiving a cart specifically for trash?
No carts for trash will be distributed or required with the transition to Frontier. Residents will continue to put out their bagged trash or personal trash carts/cans for curbside pickup.
Will my trash still be picked up twice per week?
Yes, residential trash collection will continue to be picked up twice per week.
Will I be receiving a new recycle cart?
Yes, residents will receive a blue 95-gallon recycle cart from Frontier beginning the week September 11. Residents can begin using the new blue recycle cart once it is delivered.
What do I do with my old recycle cart?
All residents are asked to set green recycle carts at the curb on their recycling day the week of Sept. 11. Leave the green cart at the curb until it can be picked up by Republic.
What if I currently have a 65-gallon recycle cart?
Residents who currently have a 65-gallon recycling cart will be able to request a 65-gallon recycling cart from Frontier. As soon as operations allow, residents will be able to submit a request.
Will there be any changes to what I can put in my recycling cart?
There will no changes to what is currently recyclable. You may continue to place paper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum and glass items in your cart. For more information about what items are recyclable, click HERE to access our online Can I Recycle it search tool, or click HERE for a printable flyer for reference.
What about bulky waste pickup?
Residents will continue to place bulky waste for curbside pickup following the current guidelines. Click HERE to read more about placing brush/bulky waste for pickup.
Will this change how much I pay for trash and recycling pickup?
Residents will see an estimated $3 trash/recycling rate increase on their utility bill. The city secured a contracted rate that delivers the same level of service Mansfield residents have come to expect at a lesser increase than if we stayed with the previous provider. By switching providers, the city is able to maintain twice per week trash pickup.
What can I do to ensure that my trash and recycling are collected on my scheduled days?
Always place your trash and recycling out by 7 a.m. on your scheduled pickup day to avoid any disruption of service. You can even set your trash and recycling as early as 1 p.m. the day before to ensure it is collected.
What about commercial customers?
Prior to Oct. 1, businesses can expect to receive mailings, email notifications, phone calls, and/or a visit from Frontier Waste representatives. Frontier will begin meeting with businesses beginning Aug. 1, and new dumpsters will be delivered beginning Aug. 21.
Who do I contact if I have more questions?
