Animal Care & Control enforces safety for our neighborhoods and provides care for stray and unwanted animals.
Mansfield Animal Care & Control Facility
The Mansfield Animal Care & Control Facility is a City shelter to hold, care for and adopt out impounded strays and owner-released animals. Our purpose is to promote safe neighborhoods for people and their pets.

Chapter 90: Animal Control City Ordinances
Effective June 10, 2022, trapping within the city limits of Mansfield will be ceased until temperatures return to below 85 degrees. This is to ensure the safety of the animals in the trap with extreme heat.

Always Remember
- Spay/neuter your pet.
- Pets are not allowed to run at large.
- All pets must be tagged.
- Vaccinate your pets.
Did You Know?
- that 95 percent of all pets that do not wear an I.D. tag do not go home
- that 95 percent of all pets that wear an I.D. tag do end up getting home
Emergencies
Anything other than what is listed will be considered on a case-by-case basis, requiring supervisor approval.
Emergency calls responded to 24 hours a day
The following is a list of animal issues that would qualify for emergency response by an animal control officer:
- aggressive animals
- bite cases
- extreme cruelty cases (if the animal is in peril)
- injured animal (officer discretion pending injuries)
- loose livestock
- sick animals (officer discretion pending illness)
- wildlife inside a residence (not in yard or garage, unless extreme circumstances)
Non-Emergency calls responded to during business hours
The following is a list of calls that we will not be able to respond to after hours:
- deceased animals
- loose animals
- loose wildlife outside residence
- lost or Found animals
