Parks & Rec COVID-19 Information

Our parks, programs and facilities have a number of changes due to the current public health emergency caused by the COVID-19 virus. Please check this page for updates in the constantly evolving situation. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to keep everyone safe and healthy.

This information is current as of March 11, 2021

Parks and Facilities

Masks are not required to enter the Mansfield Activities Center or Parks Administration offices but are recommended. Staff will continue to wear masks in public spaces and any time they cannot keep a safe social distance and we encourage visitors to do the same.

See the City’s official Health and Safety Policy and related information here.

IMPORTANT REMINDER:  All parks and trails are open on their regularly scheduled hours, but we ask that you please use caution before visiting and always maintain at least six feet of distance between you and other visitors. Use sanitizer and avoid touching any shared surfaces. It is impossible for the city to disinfect park equipment and furnishings in a manner to totally eradicate the potential spread of COVID-19.

Programs and Classes

The MAC is open and offers recreation programs with a number of significant changes to procedures and operations to accommodate current occupancy, distance and cleaning regulations.  Classes and rentals have reduced capacity limits and some schedules were adjusted to limit the number of people interacting between programs.

Masks are not required to enter the facility but are strongly encouraged, especially when social distance is not possible. Masks will be required for all participants ages 10Y+ for any programs where social distance is not possible. Parents are asked to wait in the car or outside to limit exposure within the lobby. Many programs have adjusted activities to reduce the use of shared equipment or surfaces.

Staff and program instructors will continue to be temperature checked upon arrival and will wear masks any time they engage with the public and cannot keep a minimum six feet of social distance.

Open gym basketball has a reduced capacity of 12 participants in the full gym or 6 in half-court; masks are required only when playing pick-up games.

Full details on the specific classes will be available on the registration site or can be discussed with MAC staff by call or text, 817-728-3680.

Special Events

Due to public health concerns and state restrictions on large gatherings, most Mansfield special events are on hold or were canceled. Each event is decided on case-by-case basis and all options are discussed with emergency management and event planning professionals. We are eager to return to our normal schedule of fun and festivities as soon as it is safe to do so.

Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram for the latest updates. For questions about a specific event, contact Special Events Manager Angie Henley at 817-728-3386 or angie.henley@mansfieldtexas.gov

Senior Lifestyles

Daily Senior Lifestyles programs at the MAC are closed until further notice. Some individual classes have returned with the same protocols in place for the MAC as listed above, and can be viewed here
