- Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit
The Mansfield Police Department Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE) Unit was established in February 2010 at the direction of the Mansfield City Council. The primary function of the CVE Unit is to ensure the safety within the city's 38.8 square miles of roadways is accomplished for both commercial and private vehicle traffic.
The Mansfield Police Department CVE Unit has entered into an agreement with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) as a local Jurisdictional member of the agency's Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (MCSAP). The Mansfield CVE Unit is a Member of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) and The DFW Safety Alliance and shares and supports the goals and objectives of these organizations.
Officers selected for the CVE Unit have successfully completed the required Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) courses in:
Assigned officers continue to enhance skills through continuing education, training and conferences throughout the year.
These streets are designated by ordinance as Commercial Delivery Routes and are for commercial vehicles to provide goods or services within the designated area. They cannot be utilized as a "cut through" for commercial vehicles traveling through Mansfield. Commercial vehicles MUST utilize approved roadways when available.
