Message from the Chief
On behalf of the men and women of the Mansfield Police Department, welcome to our website. It is my honor to serve as your Chief of Police.
We have accomplished many things as a police department, but we have even higher expectations for our future. We owe our success to the dedicated members of our department, our volunteers and the unbelievable support we get from our community. We are truly blessed to have not only these great individuals that work with us, but also a community that rallies around us and lets us know we are appreciated. We are also very grateful to our city council and city management team who ensure that we have outstanding training and equipment to serve our citizens with the professionalism they deserve.
The Mansfield Police Department mission is “to provide the highest level of service, in partnership with the community, to foster a safe atmosphere promoting the highest quality of life for all people.” One of our most notable accomplishments was receiving “recognized status” from the Texas Police Chief’s Association in their Best Practices Recognition Program. This program sets more than 166 standards deemed appropriate by law enforcement professionals from across the state of Texas as meeting the best practices within the industry. If not already in place, these standards are fully implemented by the agency and inspected by a recognition team that completes on-site compliance review to ensure they are properly instituted within the agency. The Texas Police Chief’s Association Recognition Program is widely regarded as the “gold standard” of professional police agencies in the state, and we are certainly proud to have been honored by this recognition.
As mentioned in our Mission Statement, we take our partnership with the community very seriously. We know the trust our citizens have placed in the department and work every day to ensure that we maintain an organization they can be proud to call their own. We continue to look for innovative ways to engage the public and allow them access to better understand what we do, how they can help us do our job better and how we can serve them more efficiently. We regularly hold multiple citizen police academies that allow for better understanding of the police function in the community. We also participate in community events such as “Coffee With a Cops,” as well hold an open house event where citizens can see our multiple divisions and some of the tools we use to do our job. We hope to see you at one of these events. Thank you for taking the time to show your support and interest in our department.
